Forum Rules
Spelling
Please proof-read your posts. A post or thread that is cluttered with misspellings and excessive abreviations is worth little. Proper spelling enhances your own credibility and the credibility of your information on your posts. We will not tolerate "U" "Wut" and such babble.
Punctuation
Please do not forget to properly punctuate. Just as with spelling, proper punctuation is KEY. A post void of commas or periods is unclear and basically nullifies any information posted.
Use Capitalization
Capitalize your titles properly, capitalize every word which demands it, such as beginning of sentences, names and official titles. It gives a simple post a professional appearance and people will listen to you.
Title Properly
When starting a thread name, capitalize and spell the title properly. A thread title cannot be excessively vague such as "AEGs" when you have a specific question, or "Ny" when posting questions about teams. If you are posting a game, include the name of the game, followed by the date, followed by the location. Please keep your game posts to look like the rest of the game posts. If you are posting about items for sale, when they sell, change the thread title to "Please Delete"
Offer Valuable Input
Do not post for the sake of posting. Every post you make in the technical sections HAS to have a point. The ten character limit has been set for a reason, so that people cannot simply post "yeah, I agree" and offer no contribution or not develop the discussion.

Stick to the Subject
Try to refrain from thread drift. It has become a huge problem, and topics need to stay on track.
Do a Search
I cannot emphasize this enough. Many of our members have been around since the beginning of airsoft in the United States. Many were on the fields when the TM M4-A1 was just released. That being said, if you have a question, chances are, the question has been asked before. It is rare that new grounds are being covered when it comes to simple questions. Though technical questions may be the exception, the memberbase has probably owned EVERY AEG and GBB that has been out on the market.
Search Again
If you have done a search but found no results, change search parameters. For example, "Glock 18C" will summon results, while "G 18C" will bring up a whole other set. Make sure to do a complete and thorough search before posting. This helps keep useless redundancy at a minimum and keeps the forum quality up.

Free Speech & Appropriate Use
While this forum is a place for you to speak freely, we DO moderate. We do not tolerate racism, sexism, age-ism, or any other "-ism"'s. Nigga = Nigger, gay = fag, bitch = woman. If you can't say a word in front of a priest, you don't need to post it here. Keep your nasty mouths clean on the forum or find yourself banned.

MAAPR is not the place for Klan rallies, ministerial congregations, discussing your illegal drug use, or anything else that is generally accepted as "wrong". This also includes discussions of illegal activities, instructions, or tools, etc. Keep it off the forums.

Additionally, while this is an "open board", is is privately owned, managed, and maintained bulletin board. Do not expect a "First Amendment Right" claim to override a decision made by a MAAPR Staff Member.

Offensive Material - In Depth
1. Offensive material must not be stored, displayed or communicated using MAAPR servers.
2. If you are offended by material you see, or believe others would be, you should report it.
3. If there are sound academic reasons for handling material which otherwise would be prohibited by this Policy, then formal approval should be sought and special care taken.

Details
1. As stated above, no material may be used for the purpose of sending or attempting to send an obscene, abusive, fraudulent, threatening or unnecessarily repetitive message.

2. To elaborate on the above, MAAPR may not be used for the purpose of creating, obtaining, storing, transmitting or displaying material which is prohibited including without limitation any regulations or policy statements, nor for transmitting or displaying material in a way likely to harass or cause offence. Where a person creates and/or stores and/or transmits material using their MAAPR account which may harass or cause offence if displayed or transmitted, then they should take reasonable precautions against it being seen accidentally by someone to whom they could reasonably expect it to give offence.

3. In this context, “offensive” or “harassing” material includes material that might give offence on various grounds, including all those covered but not limited to Sex, Race, Marital Status, Pregnancy, Political Conviction, Religious Conviction, Impairment, Family Responsibility or Family Status, Age, and Sexual Preference.

4. Should someone have occasion to see material that they find to be offensive that has been deliberately sent to them or displayed in their sight by a member of MAAPR, then this should be reported and pursued in accordance with established procedures for dealing with discrimination or harassment.

5. Should anyone happen to become aware that such material exists on MAAPR's website, even if not personally offended by it, then they should bring the matter to the attention of the Webmaster or who will take the necessary steps to investigate the material and, if it does not comply with this Policy, arrange to have it removed or to ensure that reasonable precautions are taken against accidental viewing.

6. Occasionally, there may exist valid academic reasons for obtaining, holding or transmitting material that might be barred under this Policy. If so, then the member posting such information should obtain the prior approval of the Webmaster, and should take every precaution to ensure that such material is not accidentally or otherwise displayed or transmitted in such a way as may be likely to cause offence.

User Ban's & Punishments
Users are typically given more than ample chances to fix themselves when breaking forum rules.

MAAPR implements a reprimand system.

After 3 reprimands, users will be prohibited from posting, but may still view.

After 6 reprimands, users will be prohibited from posting or reading the forums. Additionally, IP Bans will be placed at the server-level, rendering access to websites hosted by MAAPR unavailable to the user.

Additionally, users banned from the MAAPR Forums are also banned by "real name" from attending any game or event organized, "called by Trustee", or hosted by MAAPR. This includes "pick-up" games, scenario games, large events, and Safety & Training Days.

Media Inquiries
MAAPR does not allow Media Inquiries to be submitted through our forums. All media inquiries should be sent to media@maapr.com and they will be subsequently forwarded to our Public Relations Dept.

In addition, information gathered from the MAAPR forums may NOT be used for any media purpose without the express written consent of the webmaster. The webmaster can be contacted at webmaster@maapr.com .

Multiple Screen Names
Having more than one screen name is forbidden. Creating a new screen name is usually done to circumvent a temporary ban, when in reality, it just clutters the forum. If you want a new screen name, let us know, and we can delete your old screen name for you.

Maintain a Valid Email Address
MAAPR requires its members to maintain a valid email account in their profile. If your email account is not valid, or is "full", an email will automatically be sent to the MAAPR staff from your webhost stating that mail sent from the MAAPR website could not be delivered. A PM will be sent to you asking you to update your email address. You will have 24 hours to do so. Failure to maintain a valid email address on your MAAPR profile can result in your loss of posting priviledges.

Also, a mandate from our webhost requires that no user of MAAPR.com have an @aol.com or @aim.com email account listed in their MAAPR forum profile. Use an alternate email address for MAAPR.com correspondence.

MAAPR Moderation Policies
From time to time, users will not agree with the moderation policies in place on this policy. MAAPR's policy on moderation is not up for discussion. MAAPR Staff make behind-the-scenes decisions which affect the way this website runs. Users who have a personal grievance with any policies on this website should take them up directly with the MAAPR Staff member privately via PM.

Real Steel Weapons
MAAPR Trustees made a decision, early in the organization's existence, to separate airsoft and real-steel as much as possible. The reasons for that are quite simple. Airsoft, as a sport, is constantly under fire from portions of the public. The reasons for that are varied. Most often, it's because an uninformed, immature, or even ill-intentioned individual mishandles an airsoft replica, resulting in a scare, arrest, or even death. Sometimes, it's due to parallels with real-steel firearms, and the resulting attention that attracts from gun control advocates. The publicity generated from either scenario is a hazard to the future well-being of our sport, in terms of acceptance and possibly even legality. MAAPR has a dedicated, private area in which real steel weapons are discussed at great length. Access to this area follows a strict set of guidelines, which can be found in the Topic Accouncement.

User Levels and Groups
What are Administrators?
Administrators are people assigned the highest level of control over the entire board. These people can control all facets of board operation which includes setting permissions, banning users, creating usergroups or moderators, etc. They also have full moderator capabilities in all the forums.
What are Moderators?
Moderators are individuals (or groups of individuals) whose job it is to look after the running of the forums from day to day. They have the power to edit or delete posts and lock, unlock, move, delete and split topics in the forum they moderate. Generally moderators are there to prevent people going off-topic or posting abusive or offensive material.
What are Usergroups?
Usergroups are a way in which board administrators can group users. Each user can belong to several groups (this differs from most other boards) and each group can be assigned individual access rights. This makes it easy for administrators to set up several users as moderators of a forum, or to give them access to a private forum, etc.
How do I join a Usergroup?
To join a usergroup click the usergroup link on the page header (dependent on template design), you can then view all usergroups. Not all groups are open access, some are closed and some may even have hidden memberships. If the board is open then you can request to join it by clicking the appropriate button. The user group moderator will need to approve your request, they may ask why you want to join the group. Please do not pester a group moderator if they turn your request down, they will have their reasons.
How do I become a Usergroup Moderator?
Usergroups are initially created by the board admin, they also assign a board moderator. If you are interested in creating a usergroup then your first point of contact should be the admin, try dropping them a private message.

Private Messaging
I cannot send private messages!
There are three reasons for this; you are not registered and/or not logged on, the board administrator has disabled private messaging for the entire board or the board administrator has prevented you from sending messages. If it is the later case you should try asking the administrator why.
I keep getting unwanted private messages!
In the future we will be adding an ignore list to the private messaging system. For now though if you keep receiving unwanted private messages from someone inform the board admin, they have the power to prevent a user from sending private messages at all.
I have received a spamming or abusive email from someone on this board!
We are sorry to hear that. The email form feature of this board includes safeguards to try and track users who send such posts. You should email the board administrator with a full copy of the email you received, it is very important this include the headers (these list details of the user that sent the email). They can then take action.

Attachments
How do I add an attachment?
You can add attachments when you post a new post. You should see a Add an Attachment form below the main posting box. When you click the Browse... button the standard Open dialogue window for your computer will open. Browse to the file you want to attach, select it and click OK, Open or doubleclick according to your liking and/or the correct procedure for your computer. If you choose to add a comment in the File Comment field this comment will be used as a link to the attached file. If you haven't added a comment the filename itself will be used to link to the attachment. If the board administrator has allowed it you will be able to upload multiple attachements by following the same procedure as described above until you reach the max allowed number of attachments for each post.

The board administrator sets an upper limit for filesize, defined file extensions and other things for attachments on the board. Be aware that it's your responsiblity that your attachments comply with the boards acceptance of use policy, and that they may be deleted without warning.

Please note that the boards owner, webmaster, administrator or moderators can not and will not take responsibility for any loss of data.

Who do I contact about illegal or possibly illegal attachments?
You should contact the administrator of this board. If you cannot find who this is you should first contact one of the forum moderators and ask them who you should in turn contact. If you still get no response you should contact the owner of the domain (do a whois lookup) or, if this is running on a free service (e.g. yahoo, free.fr, f2s.com, etc.), the management or abuse department of that service. Please note that phpBB Group has absolutely no control and cannot in any way be held liable over how, where or by whom this board is used. It is absolutely pointless contacting phpBB Group in relation to any legal (cease and desist, liable, defamatory comment, etc.) matter not directly related to the phpbb.com website or the discrete software of phpBB itself. If you do email phpBB Group about any third party use of this software then you should expect a terse response or no response at all.
